Wyatt Mansion Landscaping

Set Designer/ 3D Concept Art / Assistant Art Director

Renderings

The Wyatt mansion is an interior and exterior set based on a neoclassical building in Vancouver, BC, named Hycroft manor. For the exterior, we were to shoot it on location and add an opulent garden and fountain outside of the main door. We began with an empty parking lot and transformed it into a classical landscape of pink and lavender flowers, hedges and pathways. We also built a fountain to be the centrepiece of the garden. Our process began with some concept renderings, then followed a plan and a few cnc files for the pool and hedges. From there, our greens department made it come to life.

Set Photos

The photos below are from our initial photoshoot on location when our design was fully installed.

Set Progression

The story of the mansion begins in a state of disarray, and later gets a transformation, turning it into a spectacular and inviting home. To do this, we began with the location photos of the building. I then photoshopped these photos into a rendering where the home looks unkept and abandoned. This pre-visualization was for our visual effects team to base their work on. Next, I designed the newly renovated mansions and created renderings to sell to the network, this was done in Revit. Once approved, we built our gardens in real life, with the aid of many skilled greens people.

Drawings

In terms of drawings, we really only needed a plan and cnc files. Using the plan and renderings, we started Art directing the florals and placement of all the landscaping elements. We also cnc cut the pool for the fountain to sit in and the hedges that surround the garden. It was a very fluid and intrinsic process.
